Closed on the new house

Howard Whitehead, our realtor extraordinaire, came by the campground this morning and helped us make the move to the new house. The MP is still there and will be for 2 more nights. We closed at noon and then did a few administrative things. Jamie drove in from Charleston with the 2 dogs. There was some play time after the kids naps.  We have no TV and we didn't bring any games. We might have to talk or something. yikes.

Some work/Some play

I rode the trails this morning and the girls and boys did a hike. We loaded everyone into the Forrester (no small feat) and hit downtown Beaufort. I met my new 'personal banker' and visited with the closing attorney.  We rented a spot where we will store th MP and I talked to the local Michelin tire outlet about my tire problem. Apparently there is a lengthy backlog replacing the recalled tires. I was told weeks if not months. We have several months so we'll see. These pics were taken during our morning activities.

Hunting Island State Park

We are near Beaufort. We are here to close on our new home. This island was apparently a good place to hunt in the 1700s. The 3 day drive from SA to SC is pretty tiring in a car. Hotels and restaurants are hard. Doing the drive in the MP is another animal altogether. I'm tired. The only rest to be had begins when my head hits the pillow. I took this pic of Connor right after he woke up. He looks like he could have used a few more minutes of sac time.

Falling waters state park Florida

Today's drive was uneventful. No flat tires or other break-downs. We stopped for lunch near Pensacola. The Blue Angels are based there. They must have donated one of their planes for display at the rest area.  We are camped near the largest waterfall in Florida at the highest elevation in Florida. It's a 73 foot waterfall at an elevation of 324 feet. The waterfall pours into a sink hole. Tomorrow should be Hunting Island State Park near Beaufort.

It's always sumpton!

Before I left Tega Cay I received a letter from Michelin tire corp. I was informed the RV might have tires that were recalled and I was told how to tell if that was the case. When I got to SA I checked the tires and guess what? All 7 tires were in the recall group. The problem was tread separation and rapid air loss. See pic below. It happened as we were almost through Houston. We called 'Coach-Net', that's the AAA for RVers. We had the spare put on and we we're on our way pretty quickly. We now have no spare tire. We are in Breaux Bridge La, which is West of Baton Rouge.

90th birthday party

Jenny and her brothers and their wives have been working on this for months. The 'save the date' cards went out first. Jenny agonized over the invitation for a while. The caterer was hired, accommodations for the out of town guests needed to be found. It was quite a process and it needed to be kept a secret from Larson. It worked! Larson was floored. Everyone's effort was rewarded with a spectacular celebration. Good job everyone!

Larson Everett's 90th Birthday.

A very large contingent of Larson's relatives and friends have converged on San Antonio to help celebrate this momentous occasion. Mexico,  California, The Carolinas, Ohio, Colorado and Florida are represented. The party has been going on for awhile.  We are all worried about the relationship between birthday cake and blood sugar levels. These pics were taken at the CFG  warehouse party.

Snow in South Carolina

This has been an unusually bitter winter. We have had a couple bouts of single digit temps and weeks long stretches of cloudy cold yuk. Jenny went to SA today because her planned departure date later in the week was going to require ice skates. It snowed wet snow all day here with more snow and colder temps forcast for the next 3 days.
