Cheraw day 3

Day 2 was literally a wash out. It rained all frigging day. This park has a mountain bike trail that requires a 10 minute drive from the campground. I did that this morning. After that, Jenny and I hiked to an abandoned church camp (we think). It was a camp of some kind, we weren't sure what kind. I discovered it yesterday afternoon after the rain ended. I rode my bike around a gate that was blocking a perfectly good dirt road. Anyway, all the buildings were open. There were mattresses on the cots, soap in the soap dispensers. Plates and silverware in the mess hall and really old toilet paper in the restrooms. It was like everyone just got up and left. Really weird. We saw some graffiti with dates in the 70s. After that adventure we donned our face masks and went to the Walmart. We move tomorrow to a park not far from Seth. We could possibly get to visit with our Granddaughters. More later. Pics below are the lake and the ride.

Cheraw SP South Carolina

We decided to relax the pandemic lockdown for a few days so we drove 4 hours and arrived here. The campground is on a medium size lake and has only 17 sites. This morning we spent 2 1/2 hours exploring the lake. I was on my blow up paddle board and Jenny was yaking. One end of the lake is choked with Cypress trees. It was really cool weaving in and out and around them trying to navigate. No pics of that adventure because we didn't bring dry boxes for our phones. The plant below is a Yellow Pitcher Plant. It is carnivorous. There is apparently an acid in the base that dissolves insects that happen to fall down in there. That other pic is the lake.
