As renovations continue on Sidney's room, her crib has become a book depository. In order to 'stay out of the way' Austin decided to get off of the floor.

Belated last post
I have been told that I should have a closing post after a trip. What happens is that blogging ceases to be on my daily schedule after we get home. Anyway, I see the point so consider this the end. We put 2249 miles on the MP in just under 5 weeks. There were 10 parks and only 1 commercial camp. That camp was on the edge of the Everglades and it was sorta weird. It was described as 'old Florida'. I'm not sure if that's a "thing" but if it is, then now I know. In a bizarre set of circumstances we have all 5 of our grandkids here for the weekend and only one set of their parents. Tonight we are taking the group to a drive-in theater. YIKES!

Crooked River State Park GA.
This park is on the Florida / Georgia border. We have been here 3 times. It's about 3 hours from home. The first thing we did when we got the MP parked was drive into Saint Marys to have lunch. During the drive we passed a bike shop. BOO-YAH!!! It took 5 minutes and cost $7.50 to fix my bike chain. I actually didn't need a tool. Apparently the dodad that connects the ends of the chain broke or fell apart or something. The bike mechanic just snapped in a new connector. No tools needed. I bought a spare dodad. That's why it was so expensive. I rode the park trails when we got back to the park. I took this pic on the Crooked River trail.

Three Rivers day 2
The 3 rivers are 1: the Chattahoochee 2: the Flint and 3: the Apalachicola. The first 2 flow into the lake and the Apalachicola starts below the dam. I rode Jenny's bike today. Every trail. The park is less than 1000 acres so there's not a lot of room for trails. We head further east tomorrow. Should be home in 2 days. The pic is what I look like after a day of driving on the interstate.

Three Rivers State Park
We are on interstate 10 headed east. There are several parks on I 10 in Florida that we have not visited. We were supposed to stop at Florida Caverns SP but the campground was flooded. This park is a few miles east of that one. It's on Seminole reservoir. I did my normal exploratory bike ride and I broke the chain on my bike. That's a first for me. There is no way I can fix it without a special tool. I thought I might be able to put Jenny's chain on my bike but I need that tool to take her chain off. Oh well. I can ride her bike. We are here for 2 nights.

Topsail Hill last day
This park is pretty big. There are a lot of fire break roads that meander all over the place. I rode this morning on those roads and was never oriented. I like being lost cause it's so satisfying when I figure out a way home. We ate lunch in a really cool little town called 'Seaside'. The movie "The Truman Show" was filmed there. There were a few houses for sale. We saw only one for less than a million. The state Park we had planned to camp at tomorrow was flooded so we had to find some place else. We did. Here are a couple of pics I took today.

Topsail Hill Preserve State State Park
We drove a couple of hours west and are now in the Florida panhandle. In fact we are only a few miles from where Seth & Lindsay were born. We will probably do a nostalgia drive tomorrow and visit some of our old haunts. We timed our departure perfectly this morning. When we arrived here a Biblical deluge began and lasted for 3 hours. I took a pic out the window.

St. Joseph Peninsula day 3
We woke to a windy gray day. Perfect for kayaking on the bay. Of course, that's only a personal opinion. Jenny did not agree. After I got back we found the only restaurant within 20 miles and had a late lunch. 100% chance of rain tomorrow so I did what I could towards breaking camp because I really hate breaking camp in the rain.

St. Joseph Peninsula day 2
Our big event today was a hike. The peninsula is bisected by a 6 mile trail that goes to the end. We hiked 5 1/2 miles of that trail through mostly loose sand. At that point there is a cut-through to the beach. We stopped there for lunch and then hit the beach for the hike back. We saw no one until we got near the trailhead. The beach here is rated as one of the best beaches in the country and we had it to ourselves. It was quite a treat. About 10 miles and 4 hours into walking in sand, we were ready for the treat to be over with.
