Larson Everett Feb 22, 1924-Mar 13, 2023
We celebrated Larson's life over 2 days. All the Grandkids were there. Julie traveled from Germany, Jennifer from California, Jessica from Dallas and Seth and Lindsay from the Carolinas. He wanted no tears to be shed. It was a celebration. He will be missed.

Home in Habersham
We made it home. The pollen dump is in full swing and I can't see the ground because there are 3" of Live Oak leaves covering everything. My favorite time of year. The blog will be dormant for awhile. I've got some worn out body parts to replace. Our next scheduled trip isn't until May. I didn't wash the car once while we were out. Probably should.

Jekyll Island State Park
I didn't post yesterday because we had a long drive, did laundry, ate dinner and then watched 60 minutes. I was timed out. We started our trip at this park. This time we had a few hours and did some exploring in the car. JP Morgan founded 'The Jekyll Island Club' here in the 1890s. It's still here. This Island makes me think of what Hilton Head probably looked like before it got trashed by overdevelopement. Most of the Island is densely wooded. There is one 9 hole golf course and just a few hotels. We drove completely around the island and saw just how sparsely developed it is. There are paved bike trails everywhere and they are well used. We are home tomorrow. I took a few random pics yesterday and today.

Shepard day 2
This place is only 400 acres but it is spiderwebed with trails. Some of the trails are part of the Disc golf course. I played 17 of the 18 holes. One of the holes, # 11, required a long toss over a marsh. A disc falling short would not be recoverable. We actually linked up with a local who was about to tee off. He knew the course and we seriously wouldn't have been able to find all the tees and baskets without his guidance. The artsy photo I'm calling "Mississippi Monorail". We move tomorrow to a commercial place in the Florida Panhandle. Should be home on the 7th.

Shepherd State Park Ms.
We are near the town of Gautier. I'm afraid that today was mostly just driving. We are now back on Interstate 10. One of the reasons we headed north out of SA is because I have driven that road way too many times. We have hit all the high spots, camped in all the State parks and even stop at the same gas stations. The first time I drove from SA to Florida was when I attended ROTC summer camp my junior year at A&M. There is a Disc golf course here. I rode some of it on my bike and there is high potential for Disc loss. Not sure if I'll play it. This is a pic of our campsite. We are here for 2 nights.

Chicot day 2
Pretty much more of the same. Bike ride this morning, lunch in Ville Platt, long hike in the Arboretum. When they found out I was an AG major at A&M they asked me to give a lecture at the amphitheater. I must have mixed up the time because no one showed up. I gave my unprepared talk anyway. It was spectacular. Small accident on the way back to the car. I'm OK so don't ya'll fret. We move tomorrow. Should be is Mississippi.

Chicot State Park LA
We are near Ville Platt. This is the Yankee part of the state, no Cajuns. We have left the park and are sitting in the parking lot of Walmart. The water filter in our Zero water pitcher is producing funny tasting water. We're looking for a new filter. This park is supposedly the largest in the state. There is a 22 mile trail around Chicot Lake and there is an arboretum in the park that is supposed to be worth a visit. I took not one picture today. I have included a pic Jenny took yesterday of the sunset over the lake. We are here for 3 nights.
