Western cross-timbers

There is a ribbon of hardwood forest running south out of Oklahoma that is called the western cross-timbers. It's weird to be driving through mesquite and prickly pear and then abruptly enter a dense hardwood forest. This park is in the cross-timbers. On a vaguely related note, part of this park was 'Camp Wolters'. 40,000 helicopter pilots were trained here before going to Vietnam. This site was chosen because of the dense forest. Kinda like Vietnam. I had an epic bike ride this morning, most of it was through, the no longer used, army property. Jenny has taken the car to her reunion and the last time I looked it was 110 outside. It's 91 inside. The MP AC just can't cope.
