Northern Tallgrass Prairie

The Nature Conservancy, MN State University and the state park system have teamed up to protect and study 3000 acres of tallgrass prairie. Only .1 of one percent of the original 45 million acres remain. We did a fantastic job of destroying it "that I can tell you". Jenny and I did a 3 hour hike around the perimeter of the park this morning. The Buffalo river flows through the park so we were in the shade some, but the trails are mostly just mowed paths through the grass. We haven't done much hiking on this trip and I was curious as to how my bionic knee would do. It seemed to do fine. We move further west tomorrow.
