We are in a commercial campground near Scott's Bluff. 3 major westward expansion trails passed by here and Chimney Rock was a major landmark for navigating. We went to the visitor center and got an idea from the exhibits just how difficult the six month trek across the country was. It's estimated that there is one unmarked grave every mile along the Oregon Trail. Our drive today was fairly short. The back roads of Nebraska are pretty lonely. We are here for 3 days for some reason. I guess I was thinking we should hunker down for the weekend.
