Fort Robinson SP Nebraska

This place is a for real Army Post. There are barracks, Officers quarters, a mess hall, parade ground, etc. It was established in 1874 and was a functional post until 1949. The state of Nebraska has done a spectacular job of keeping the place maintained. All of the quarters are available for rent and it appears that they are all rented. Fort Robinson was established as a calvary outpost and it appears to be an equestrian destination. There are 2 huge barns filled with stalls and the barn we went in was full of horses. The fort covers several thousand acres and is spider webbed with trails. This is tall grass prairie so the trails are marked with white posts. Not suitable for mountain bikes but apparently appealing to horseback riders. This morning we had the bad tire replaced. After we arrived we ate lunch in the mess hall. There was a scenic drive and then some exploring on our bikes. We move tomorrow for a 3 night stay somewhere south of here. I can't remember where exactly. I'm pretty sure I wrote it down. More tomorrow.

  1. How is your weather. We are seeing on news channels Temps of 118 in western states. Are you getting any of that. Sounds like a horseback riding mecca to me.
