Alligator river NWR

We did a guided paddle this morning in the WR. The Alligator river is salty so there are no alligators in it. It apparently is shaped like an alligator if you look at it on a map. We put in at a place called 'Buffalo  City'. There is no city. Garmin had no clue. There used to be a city there that housed all the people who were needed to cut down all the trees.  It took 75 years but after they cut 'em all down the town was abandoned and eventually disappeared. The land is recovering and should return to it's original condition in a couple of hundred years.
